CARE INSTRUCTIONS

CARING FOR YOUR BTI GAUGE

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a BTI Gauge, which is kind of a big deal, not to toot our own horns. Now that you are in possession of one of the coolest gadgets in the business, we ask that you take certain steps and precautions to ensure that your gauge is well-maintained and remains functional and in excellent condition once you open the box. The following preventative measures will result in a high-quality and long lifespan for your BTI Gauges.

STORING YOUR BTI GAUGE

Properly storing your BTI Gauge is the most important component in your role of caring for your gauge. We ask that you treat your gauges like any other electronic device and exercise certain precautions in the storage of your gauge(s):

  • Avoid and limit exposure to extreme temperatures and harsh sunlight that could result in overheating, like your phone, extreme heat exposure can result in degradation of the circuitry, battery, and the display screen
  • If your gauge resides in your vehicle when not in use, ensure that your windows are properly tinted and that your vehicle remains in a room temperature or air-con garage to avoid extreme temperatures
  • Ensure that your gauge is not stored or exposed to environments with large amounts of moisture or dirt, as this will degrade internal circuitry or screen functionality of a gauge if a buildup of either of these elements occurs
  • Wiring harnesses should be kept in an environment similar to your gauge and out of reach of elements or parties that could result in severing or damage to wires, connectors, and pins (we love dogs, but dogs don't play well with wiring harnesses)

MAINTAINING YOUR BTI GAUGE

Everyone wants their gauge clusters to look their best, we ask that you remove your grubby fingerprints and handle your gauge with the following guidelines:

  • When cleaning your screen do not use solvent containing ammonia (put the Amor All and Windex down) instead use the microfiber cloth we have so generously provided, if you require a more thorough clean slightly dampen your microfiber cloth
  • We ask that you ensure that all your wiring in your car is correct before installation and that you wire your gauge as directed to prevent surge damage that will effectively put your gauge out of commission
  • Please refrain from opening up your gauge and working on the device yourself or altering your wiring harness unless given specific instructions from a certified BTI employee, we know this is a community of Do It Yourselfers but please withhold from becoming an electrical engineer for the day
  • When removing your windshield mount take care to release the suction mechanism as opposed to yanking by force from your windshield as it is likely to damage both your gauge and windshield mount and may your pride if you lose that battle
  • And finally, we ask that you handle your BTI products with care by storing and transporting them properly and ensure that you are using them as directed
  • For instructions on hoe to safely install and operate your gauge and associated products we ask that you view our Safety Instructions and Tech Docs pages
